Demo Derby Victory Lap: Checkered Flag Shoved Up the Pitted Arse of Propriety...

TLASILA - Discothèque 70: Guinée vs. Pierre Boulez

We come to the end of our 45-day drive-by/shovemix series with Bembeya Jazz National, Keletigui et ses Tambourinis, and Balla et ses Balladins (from the brilliant 1971 Syliphone label compilation Discothèque 70: Guinée) ganging up against the frissons generated by the InterContemporain Ensemble's 1999 recording of Maestro Boulez's extraordinary Répons.

This is the muzak blaring 23/7 at my dream death club, and I wanted to share it with you.

(In Hell, perhaps, but love is sharing, after all...)

Discothèque 70: Guinée vs. Pierre Boulez represents the 43rd and final mashup EP in a series which yielded 190 individual mixes with a combined duration of six hours and 24 minutes.

I prefer to keep busy...

(There are an additional nine mixes from four abandoned efforts - Alva Noto vs. The 4-Skins, Arvo Pärt vs. The Human Beinz, Maria Muldaur vs. Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Tenjo Sajiki v High School Musical - and one privately distributed EP, Grateful Dead vs. Mötley Crüe. Noto, Muldaur and HSM were quickly redirected to more [un]suitable pairings, but the Pärt / Beinz collision never collagulated to taste.)

We hit the studio over the weekend - thanks for helping with the realignment.
