Damned If You Don't...

Crawling through academic briars all week; lotsa contusions, many sweet scrapes. Managed to post a few NAF pix; the remainder are in queue. (I know you're all impressed with my speed and efficiency.) Had good phone time Wednesday night with AWK; Thursday, spoke with Chris and Mark Morgan. Re CG/MM: the former leaves for an extended Oz trek on the 11th, and the latter returns from a Michigan ashram in late February. Much that cannot be repeated here, all of it very satisfying...

Okay, all the pix have been posted; in the forthcoming weeks, expect more to trickle in from the hinterlands...

"God and Country Rally" is a good album, if I may be so brazen (within these biased confines). It was good when we "finished" it in 1996, and it was good when it was moldering on my shelf for eight years. A live studio experiment, nothing cosmos-rending, nuthin' less or more. I tweaked the bits that had grown annoying, remixed the lot over a seven-month stretch in 2003, and GK at Smack Shire did the rest. It's meant, primarily, to entertain. No grandiose statement, even though the lyrics are still rather contemporary in their concerns. Orcutt played his ass off, IMHO, and Nandor, then unfettered by various grotesque dependencies, was in top form. Ben and Rat were at their most empathetic. I, on the other hand, made more than my share of gaffs. I left them all in... It was only fair.
Hope you'll have an opportunity to hear it soon!
Best,
TS
Thanks for visiting the site, posting your thoughts, and letting us know what you're up to. I'd dig hearing your work.
I genuinely appreciate your kind words regarding the earlier TLASILA recordings. They're not perfect, but at times, intent is certainly met half way! As for the Ohne albums (there are three live CDs on release, and a few scattered Euro comp tracks as well), they seem to cohere just a teensy bit better.
Don't yet know what will go down re Shave '05. There's lots of talk about overseas dates, and much less discussion about domestic gigs. Our plans are contingent on the completion of the new album, etc.
We'll keep you and everyone else posted.
Again, many thanks!

Hello Andrew!
Please convey my regards to your girlfriend; tell her that I wore my glasses while reading your entry in which you describe her wearing her glasses to admire my misshapen goat-form. Baaaaaaaaaa!
