Two New Releases from Karl Schmidt Verlag!

Hello Again,

We're writing from KSV Zentrum, where a pair of new releases (one from our semi-omniscient co-founder, the other from our Romanian mastering Wunderkinder) have been approved for dissemination. Take a moment to reflect on the despair engendered by Western popular culture, then make the right decision...

KSV 097 Karl Schmidt - Jourdain

Recorded by Karl while TS and the CP were surveying the sights of Le Ville Lumière last weekend, Jourdain captures a less frequently championed set of tonalities. One intersection, many motorbikes, and the odd passerby blasting incongruous, irresistible schmaltz. Mediation is thus absolved!

01 Petite Désagréments (67:54)

Recorded by Karl in Paris, 25 July 10. Edited and mixed by TS. Produced by KS.

Mastered by Linda, Viola & Uwe at Slab Alucard, Cluj-Napoca.

Edition of 15.

KSV 098 Linda, Viola & Uwe - Eine ruhige Nachbarschaft

Five day workers dismantle a three-story scaffolding in real time. We call it rock.

01 Eine ruhige Nachbarschaft (71:06)

Edited, mixed, produced and mastered by Linda, Viola & Uwe on the Slab Alucard mobile in Maramureş, Romania, July 19, 2010.

Edition of 15.

Pre-Holiday Notes...

Hi,

I've loaded a week's worth of installments of Show Fruit (Série B) in advance of our Sunday afternoon departure (we're going to Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, located not terribly far from the northwestern coast of Africa), so expect new levels of archival depravity, strictly for your delectation, round about midnight each and every morn.

Also, I've been tinkering with the toliveandshaveinla.com design for ages now, and I've finally arrived at a design that both pleases my too-often offended eye and fails to over-burden my admittedly elementary HTML skills. I'll have the template uploaded later today, but be aware that most of the content will be months in the schlepping.

Lastly, there'll be two new KSV releases available for purchase later in the afternoon. Orders will ship on August 9, so take your time if money is tight...

I'll endeavor to update all those damned MySpace profiles as well. The KSV page is woefully out of date... Sorry. I hate going to MySpace these days. Such a drag, especially from a basic design standpoint. Of course, such banal gripes are nothing new...

OK, off to do a fuckload of chores.

Until Later,

Tom

Your One-Stop Desynchronization Shop...

Hello Everyone,

In response to numerous requests: Portsmouth Sinfonia.

Odd, the version of Hallelujah that's been coursing through the global system of interconnected computer networks is clearly, obviously the same one I originally shared with you in October, 2007. (Not that I care.) The iteration you'll discover below has been cleaned up yet again, and re-encoded for maximum nerd-info impact. As for the rip of Plays the Popular Classics, 'twas also was sourced from my own, somewhat frazzled vinyl copy (purchased in 1973 for $3.49 at a J.C. Penney store located in the now forlorn Five Points Shopping Center in Valdosta, Georgia). Re-encoded and slightly scrubbed as well. The versions of 20 Classic Rock Classics and Classical Muddly originated elsewhere (copied many years ago from a college radio station's larder), and as such have been appropriately spruced, re-encoded (ever crucial), and administered B-12 injections about the taillights and bony labyrinth...

What are you waiting for?

Plays the Popular Classics

Hallelujah

20 Classic Rock Classics / "Classical Muddly"

Info files and images within each archive. Everything ripped at 320.

Re-Religion...

(Amended 15 July 10.)

On Faith and Its Antipode, Italian Techno...

Hello,

Dunno how many of you have actually seen a copy of Psycho Radio's 2006 remix of "Religion" from Public Image Ltd.'s debut First Edition album, but it exists and it's worth hearing.

It's imperfect (no Levene, Walker or Wobble, just Lydon's voice sampled from "Religion 1"), but it will do...

I have the complete 12" now, transferred from an original copy: first to lossless wavs, then to mp3. Long, long out of print. You can thank me when I'm dead.

¡Hola amigos!

An update on the forthcoming live release on Discos Buen Pony, taken from TLASILA 666's unfettered, poleaxed, altogether out-of-mind/body 2008 performance at Valencia's premiere vibrating egg emporium, the Red Shoe.

Contrary to earlier reports, the album hasn't yet been issued.

Why? José dice que tomará más tiempo del previsto...

So, just another couple of weeks, and the mad scamper across the pampas can begin.

OK?

Unpunished...

Hello Again,

The new book has arrived from the printer. It took a few days longer than I'd originally anticipated, so apologies are due for the delay. As with all KSV emanations, however, the wait merely ensures the maintenance of your delirium!

Here are Unpunished's forty-eight pages, arrayed for the gratification of your lower natures.

The first edition is already sold out. Let us know if you require a copy from the second printing.

Update: The Cortège...

Hello,

It's been another crazed week. A raft of back-dated posts I've been too preoccupied to publish in real time will follow.

Our visitor over the weekend was Ray Brassier, the esteemed author of Nihil Unbound. We hit it off right away - he's a very cool cat. Currently teaching at the American University in Beruit, Ray has been enjoying "Zadok" (the name given by German meteorologists to the weekend's withering heatwave) with us, and suffered as well through last night's largely lethargic World Cup finale as we sat, engulfed in humidity, at Silke Arp Bricht's "Oberdeck" foyer. If I ever finish the running order of the Refusal box set, Ray will be penning its accompanying booklet. Herr Brassier is also now one of the handful of living humans with a copy of Boat Of's super-rare Mix Pentacost(e) compilation, released in an edition of six (!) C-90s by Don Fleming's Big Circus imprint in 1983...

So, to the headline - Don Fleming's mix of The Cortège will soon find its way to vinyl! Karl Schmidt designed the sleeve. Chris Grier will take the production credit with DF. More details soon. Until then, here's the cover:

The second album in the series, Épuration (Cortège version), will follow soon, on compact disc, courtesy of Roggbif.

Okay, gotta run. Ray's off to go sightseeing, and I'm heading off to my next class.

Later,

Tom
