TLASILA Tour Update, Pt. 99,992

Hello... Still elated over France's gut-pummelling victory over Spain. ZIDANE!!!!! One hopes the odious Luis Aragones will have time to formulate at least one apology in the off-season...

(If you don't know what I'm burbling on about, check the New York Times' formidable World Cup '06 blog bullpen. Threads galore...)

---

Okay, on to the tour blag. Mark Morgan is back - he'll be traveling with us to Canada in Aug/September and probably be along for the deathride in November/December. His schedule cleared, and the gods who watch over his damp, pungent half-socks smiled. Don Fleming, however, will likely miss the Canadian leg of the autumn pageant. Why? Family and professional obligations. He can only take so much time off (that is, until Universal coughs up that $3 billion signing bonus we've been negotiating). We're weeping copiusly over this one... Alas, our collective loss.

Silver lining department: Don will definitely be on board for the Nov-Dec swing through the Northeast, Southern, and (lower) Mid-Western States. Unfortunately, our no-frost policy dictates we skirt winter dates in the less forgiving domestic climes, so Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Fargo, perhaps we'll see you in 2007.

The band (Canadian swing, August 31-September 3):

Rat Bastard, Ben Wolcott, Mark Morgan, Andrew Wilkes-Krier, Chris Grier, Rich Russo, and me (TS), with Don Fleming most likely joining us for the final NYC date (September 5).

Horoscopo will be available for purchase and general ogling.

The band: (American tour, November-December):

Don, Rich, AWK, CG, MM, Ben, Rattus, and little ol' moi.

Where's Thurston Moore? Hell, we'd love to have him full-time, but he's just a tad busy at the moment (and probably making more kimchee per date with S-Oldth than he would in a decade with the Shave)... My biases are documented, but if you're of a charitable mind, escuche y aprender -- loosed from formal (SY-ish) bonds, T-Bird delivered. He played brilliantly on Noon. But, who knows? If he manages to catch one of our dates, maybe we'll be able to convince him to don a straightjacket and hit the waterboards with us.

Noon and Eternity should be on release by late September (or mid-October), and thus will be on sale at the shows. 'Twas the artwork tweaking that made us late, and we apologize in advance for caring...

West coast dates (including a dip into Mexico) will likely be booked for January, February at the latest. We hit Europe in the Spring of 2007...

That's all for now.

Yours,

TS

Just how Northeast is the Nov-Dec Northeast? You guys should SO pop by Montréal for a third showing - especially with the new CD and maybe even that slacker Mr. Moore in tow...

It's okay, I'll catch "T-Bird" in August. Although, the ultimate crime of Sonic Youth OPENING for The Flaming Lips will be committed, I'll still catch him in action in Columbus. (I like the Lips and all, but dammit, SY should be headlining.)

I'm tempted to convince my brother to have you play at his new bar/venue. However, I haven't seen the place, AND... If the show's anything like last time I saw you guys with the opening acts and all, he'd hate it. And he's so far up Bush's ass, it's scary (well, maybe not as of late seeing as how even Republicans are realizing they voted a fucking moron into office, but I tend to not talk politics with him by this point)... So scratch that. It'd be a big mess, probably.

Hello Evan,

We're talking NYC NE, and precious little real estate beyond its northern bounds. From New York, we'll go south, hugging (and occasionally frenching) the Eastern Seaboard. After dunking our tootsies into languid Florida waters, we'll go west, perhaps as far as Texas, then head back through the lower midwestern corridor. We'll likely begin the Noon tour by meeting in NYC for rehearsals, and compulsively wreck the circle of life by ending the trek with a pair of dates in Manhattan.

At least that's the plan for now.

Of course, if a Montréal-area promoter should make an interesting offer, we'd probably consider it. Gotta be real...

Best,

Tom

We'll be happy to fill your bro's club and take his $$$. When and where?

Remember that Republitard Jacksons can be spent on Dem-ass necessities (cranberry braised tofu, Rip, Rip and Panic bootlegs, etc.); happy to hasten the downfall anyway we can.

Yrz,

Tom

Totally psyched for September 1st in Montreal. By the way, could it be that the gig moved from Club Lambi to the Sala Rossa? This website (www.mandatorymoustache.com) seems to claim so - as well as listing three opening bands we'll have to slog through before getting the Shave.

Jesus, Bruno - this is the first I've heard of it! Those sneaky little bastards... Nobody tells us anything.

Haha, thanks, TOm! I think I'm going to get my initials monogrammed on one of those early 90s-style mesh hats. White cap with a bright yellow brim.

Ugh... *shudders*

I'm having my name embroidered on the whole of Eurasia. It should look swell from the ISS...

This thread has devolved into a gay lovefest! What next - are you going to share makeup tips?
ommyth said…
It's only "gay" from your warped perspective, Mr. or Mrs. Red State Low Self Esteem! What's queer about a monogrammed strap-on, thong carry-all, or lube dispenser? We are manly men here, and refute your self-loathing. (Excuse me, but my mascara, my father's eyeliner, and my son's "wife"'s lipgloss are all running...)

Red Stater? Thou doth protest too much!

Visualise if you will for the next TLASILA album cover:

Mr. Smith, clad in an embroidered pink and green thong and army boots, sitting in his front yard in an aluminum lawn chair serenading all the children on the block. (Matching strap-on and a PBR by his side.)

The girls will love it!

Re previous reply: my tongue was firmly in, er, cheek. Nah, did the purposely fugly glam thing back in '99 on the rOCTober tour (with Liz, Weasel, and Nandor along for the jaguar ride)... Kinda enjoying my elder statesman status these days - no more goofy outfits. I leave sartorial eye-strain to certain of our fans, others within the costumed noise contingent, Republican lawmakers, etc.

Best,

Tom

i'll catch you yet... it appears synchronicity cannot be jinxed or coaxed (well, maybe coaxed a little) ... just wish this audiophile from a little rock known as hawaii some luck in pillaging the rest of the world at large... and tom, lookin good! ahaha; always better to love oneself and be confident than to be one of those insecure fishermen of compliment i say. feckin vampires, those are the people who become "myspace pinups", yknow? anyway> have a great tour, hope to see y'all and thanks for the downloads... -mikey

Herr Schmidt,

My tongue was firmly in your embroidered butt cheek but we'll save that fantasy for later.

Horrified, TT. We operate a NASA-like clean room environment here at TLASILA HQ. Take those errant thoughts to a priest (Nate Young, perhaps?) for immediate ablution...

Mikey, you may download in confidence - have at it! Just make sure you've completed your labors by the 5th. At the stroke of something-or-other (prob. not midnight), the plug will be yanked from TT's 230V receptacle. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

What's wrong with being from a Red State?...
ommyth said…
This thread became seriously warped. Not necessarily a bad thing, but...

Herr Schmidt,

Errant thoughts? Priests? Good god, the possibilities are endless! The Fleets are lined up and ready to go any time and the batteries are charged. Let me know when...

I tried to pick up a priest once but I was the wrong sex. The thong is in the mail.

Sorry Tom, this is probably my fault. But...
