Abeyances Cum, Morrows(s) Limn...

Burning DVDs for the Cool Palm; a groaning grab-bag of sulfurous polemic and dizzying trash... I've fallen in love again with Russ Meyer's Common-Law Cabin, a rapturous ode to lust, greed, sloth, misogyny, the hapless, and the fetid.

Six screengrabs:

(Above, Jack Moran and the ever-corrosive Babette Bardot.)

(The title sequence, before the fade.)

(Afterwards. A majestic prop...)

(Ken Swofford recognizes oncoming doom.)

(Just before impact...)

(Not at all convincing, but with Meyer behind the Moviola, few in the audience noticed.)
