Berlin: Tag Eins...

We decamped at the flat of former Dense Productions co-conspirator Tim Tetzner, washed the new leather scent of our share-ride host's sedan from our beaming mugs, and made a beeline to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt to catch the premiere of the Rational/Irrational exhibition...

With CP's promoter pal Barbara Speer and James Cook (from the UK combo Nemo) along for the deathride, we dropped into the Rockpalast to catch a set from Stan & Laura. Another of Claudia's Berliner friends, Birgit Mild (editor of the excellent 2004 documentary Fallen Angel: Gram Parsons), joined us soon after our arrival. Minutes after Stan & Laura's agreeably mournful set concluded, the "stage" was stripped and De Sica's Bicycle Thief began to unspool. 'Twas a grand evening marked by collisions of increasingly-strange bedfellows...

(Claudia and Barbara, blurred. We were all pretty drunk by the end of the evening. For others in our orbit, of course, the festivities were only beginning. Berlin parties well into the morning...)
