Meine Lieblingsplatten von 2008...

Remember from years previous that I don't include recordings by fellow band members, intimates, former cellmates and Nobel laureates, or those published by labels who issue my own very fallible works...

Guess I'd be a lying fucker if I didn't reveal that Benga & Coki's Night EP, The Bug's Poison Dart maxi-single (actually a leftover from late '07), and The Count & Siden's Beeper were the slabs that provided me with the most visceral pleasure in '08. For this globetrotting gent, all were ideal.

Others offering various degrees of delight and solace: Ruf's "Want Some Crack?" from the Natasja vs. Ruf EP, Diver's crazed "Pintman" (from the Diver EP, which also housed the excellent "Monster"), B12's "Omni Therapy" from the very worthy 32 Lineup maxi, Starkey's "Let You Go" from the NC17 EP, Appleblim & Peverelist's "Over Here," Skream's superb "Oskilatah" from Skreamizm Vol. 4, "Sushi Brain" and "Quanta" from Headhunter's Initiate EP, Shackleton's "Death Is Not Final," Distance's wicked "V," Mundo's "Lager Dub," 6Blocc's perceptive remix of Peter Tosh's "Legalize It," Pinch's "136 Trek," both sides of Rusko's "Gone 2 Far" / "2 N A Q" 12", Scorn's Super Mantis EP, the 3rd Choice single by Vex'd, Blackmass Plastics' Do the Mash EP, The Bug's Poison Dart follow-up, "Angry" / "Ganja," et al.

Everything else I've either purposely left out, or didn't hear, or loathed, or couldn't find to download, or hated once I'd downloaded it.

I bought but one CD this year - the 2007 reissue of the Bonzo Dog Band's unassailable Gorilla...

Happy New Year!

Tom
