Re: Sprengel Visit...

Hannover is fairly stuffed with museums, but the Sprengel, despite its heavy-handed gallery security policy, is perhaps the best of the lot. This city was the home of Dadaist extraordinaire Kurt Schwitters, and thus it's no surprise the museum has a large, very impressive collection of his works. The CP and I moved slowly through the warren of interlocking rooms, luxuriating.

I sank into his 1920 assemblage, Merzbild Einunddreissig ("Merz 31").

Perfection...

Claudia's favorite work that day was Emil Nolde's breathtaking Der Schwärmer, from 1919. Nolde's astonishing colors explode from the canvas...

After four hours, we ran out of steam. We'll go back again soon...

Bless you for the images! I have a hard time extracting myself from my love of Kandinsky and Herman Brood for much of anything else (not really, it's just good copy), but I love these two.

Thanks for the eye candy and carting us along on the trip.
